Kosovo Report
February 2008 changed the political situation in Kosovo by creating a new country on and leaving the region in a state of adaptation and fluctuation. The declaration of independence on 17 February 2008 affected every person at all levels of society and politics. CSSP made three assessment visits to Kosovo in February and March 2008. The trips focused on monitoring the changes in CSSP target municipalities and to offer assistance to the local leaders during this emotional transition. In addition, the trip focused on preparations for two CSSP interactive professional trainings scheduled for April 2008.

Macedonia Report
The parliamentary elections that took place in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (hereafter ‘Macedonia’) on 1 June 2008 were marred by violence, including one fatality. The struggle for power between the two major ethnic Albanian parties, DUI and DPA, raises questions whether the democratic structures in Macedonia are stable enough to become a part of the European Union or NATO. CSSP's most recent report argues for a renewed effort focusing on the Ohrid Framework Agreement, which is at a stalemate and an increased emphasis on interethnic dialogue at the local level.

CSSP’s Situation Report released for most recent assessment trip to Macedonia
Macedonia, a country struggling to overcome ethnic conflict and is caught in a cycle of political, social, and economic strife. All this, while pushing forward with membership to NATO and the EU. CSSP’s latest report on Macedonia posits that unless there is positive movement in these areas the ability of the country to achieve its long term goals is in jeopardy. As a result CSSP is currently assessing the viability of using Integrative Mediation to help find positive outcomes for the country.
CSSP and the Centre for Strategic Research and Documentation released their joint Research Report on the Commissions for Inter-Ethnic Relations in Municipalities of Macedonia (FYROM).
The Report is the outcome of a research project conducted from December of 2007, examining the different aspects of the work of Inter-Ethnic Commissions (IECs). The Report details the background to the creation of the IECs and the legal framework defining their role and functions. The final analysis denotes recommendations to improve the functionality of the IECs and potential future projects.
