Roundtable on Egypt

CSSP realizes a roundtable on "Egypt - current developments of the rebellion before the elections" in the German Bundestag.

Dr. Juan Diaz and Dr. Dieter Wolkewitz are currently in Egypt to analyse the political developments and to meet different stakeholders involved in the rebellion on the ground. They will present their experiences and assessments during the roundtable and are looking forward to discussing them with German politicians. The roundtable addresses mainly members of the Bundestag who are interested in civilian conflict resolution and will be held in German language.

Podiumsdiskussion: „Peace Building, Peace Mediation and Private Diplomacy"

veranstaltet von CSSP und inmedio berlin, Institut für Mediation, Beratung und Entwicklung.

Die Podiumsdiskussion wird durch eine Keynote Speech von Botschafter John W. McDonald, dem Gründer des Washingtoner Instituts für Multi-Track Diplomacy, zu diesem Thema eingeleitet. Das sich anschließende Panel wird von CSSP und inmedio berlin moderiert und wird Fragen zur deutschen Außenpolitik im Bezug auf zivile Konfliktlösungsstrategien und Friedenskonsolidierung diskutieren.

Aufgrund der gegenwärtigen politischen Situation in der MENA-Region wird auch ein Bezug zu den Ereignissen vor Ort und zum Handeln in der deutschen und europäischen Außenpolitik hergestellt. Deutschland hat einen zivilen Ansatz in seiner Libyen-Politik gewählt und die Debatte über die Umsetzung dieser Politik hat gerade erst begonnen. Von großem Interesse ist auch der Weg, den Deutschland als Mitglied von EU und NATO jetzt in den anderen Staaten der Region einschlagen wird, um die Transformationsprozesse friedlich zu begleiten.

Im Anschluss an die Paneldiskussion hat das Publikum die Möglichkeit weitere Fragen zu diskutieren. Die Veranstaltung findet in Deutsch statt.

Multi-track Peace Mediation Course 2011

Starting in February 2011 Berghof Peace Support (www.berghof-peacesupport.org), CSSP and inmedio (www.inmedio.de) will conduct a course on ‘Multi-track Peace Mediation’ in Berlin, Germany. For 13 days of training (4 modules), extending over eight months, participants will engage in a wide range of topics central to peace building, mediation and conflict transformation. The course is based on interactive experiential learning focusing on both the skills and personal development of the participants. The training programme can serve as the basis for achieving mediation recognition in the German Federal Association of Mediation. The course has a unique focus on multi-track peace mediation in a political context. An optional module at the end of the course will be offered in Sarajevo for those interested in meeting stakeholders in a multi-track post-conflict environment. Capacity-Building Workshop Nepal
in cooperation with CONTACT South Asia

From 13-16 December Mr. Juan Diaz will be in Nepal to work with local leaders from the SAARC region on mediation mechanisms in violence prone regions. The Workshop focuses on negotiation skills, understanding the challenges and chances of inter-space negotiation and on principles of Integrative Mediation. CSSP Honorary President turns 80

Our Honorary President, Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling, will be turning 80 years on 19 November 2010. To mark this very special anniversary, CSSP and the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAS) are going to host a workshop and symposium on “The impact of EU integration on Democracy and Constitution” on 8-9 December in Sarajevo.
